Eric Gerard

Founder · Affiliate marketing and network security specialist

Affiliate marketer for 12 years, former network admin at an industrial SMB (Cisco CCNA in 2014, expired but solid foundations). I launched AnonymFlow because nearly every French VPN comparison recycles vendor spec sheets without testing anything. On this site, every number is measured by us, and we document the measurement protocol.

My path started in 2010 as network admin at a French industrial SMB: three sites, two Cisco ASA firewalls, a carrier MPLS, and the daily need to understand exactly what was traversing the wire when a remote site lost connectivity. I earned the Cisco CCNA certification in 2014, became infrastructure lead until 2014, then shifted into tech affiliate marketing. Since then I've operated or advised around twenty affiliate sites in consumer cybersecurity (VPN, password managers, antivirus). This double hat — someone who can break out Wireshark and read a PCAP, and someone who understands how an affiliate program works behind the scenes — is what makes the editorial work on AnonymFlow possible: I can both technically verify what a VPN claims and identify the commercial biases that make nearly every French-language comparison unusable. Continuing education: OSINT, threat intelligence, ongoing reading of ANSSI, ENISA, EFF publications. I publish under my full real name, with a professional email open to anyone (eric@anonymflow.com), and I personally answer technical questions submitted via the contact form — no bots, no outsourced moderation.

Our extended team

Beyond Eric, our technical articles go through a review loop by external consultants anonymized at their request. They are not co-authors: they are reviewers paid on a per-engagement basis to verify technical claims before publication. We document their professional profile and tenure without naming them out of respect for their preference (two of them work in publicly listed companies' SOCs and do not want to expose their public identity).

  • Technical reviewer #1 — Network security

16 years of hands-on network security (level-3 SOC at a major French industrial group), expertise in IDS/IPS, PCAP capture and analysis, VPN protocol hardening. Verifies DNS, WebRTC, kill switch and IPv6 leak claims before publication. Average review time: 5 business days.

  • Technical reviewer #2 — Privacy & legal

11 years in data protection compliance and surveillance jurisdictions, former certified DPO consultant. Verifies no-log audit claims, vendor jurisdiction, GDPR compliance of affiliate tracking and resale clauses. Average review time: 7 business days.

Editorial standards

Every article published on AnonymFlow follows the process below — no exception, no shortcut.

  • Technical peer review before publication

Any article containing measurable technical claims (throughput numbers, leak rates, protocol claims) is reviewed by one of our two technical reviewers. Unverifiable claims are removed.

  • Systematic fact-checking of external sources

Every cited source (study, audit, third-party guide) is verified against its latest published version. If a URL 404s or returns an outdated document, the article is held back until corrected.

  • Maximum 90-day review cycle

No article stays published more than 90 days without a technical content review. The frontmatter date (datePublished / dateModified) reflects the last actual verification, not a cosmetic CI build.

  • Public correction policy

If a factual error is reported, we correct it within 48 business hours and add a dated footnote explaining the change. No silent correction.

  • Conflicts of interest disclosed on every page

Pages containing affiliate links carry a header disclaimer: permanent banner + rel="sponsored nofollow" HTML attribute on every commercial link. No exception.
